Gear

Quick Links:

There are several Gear types similar to Tsushima. These will be broken down into color-coded categories based on rarity

  1. WHITE = “Common” or “starting” gear (all classes have this as default at the start of the game). This gear has no special properties or abilities.
  2. GREEN = “Uncommon” gear. This gear will now start to provide Properties.
  3. BLUE = “Rare” gear. This gear will offer one Property and will now start to provide Perks
  4. PURPLE = “Epic” gear. This gear will offer a second Property slot (so now two Properties and one Perk)
  5. ORANGE = “Legendary” gear, these gear will have a special Ability or Perk beyond what a Purple gear provides (ie two Properties, one Perk, one Legendary Ability).

The Menu

For Gear that is Epic (Purple) rated and not currently at it’s maximum the menu has five selections listed below

  • Ki Upgrade (Item goes up 1 Ki)
  • Property upgrades
  • Reroll Property 1
  • Reroll Property 2
  • Reroll Perk

Gear that is Uncommon (Green) or Rare (Blue) does not have the option to re-roll property or perk slots.

Leveling (Ki & Gear)

The best option in the early levels is to use a combination of new Gear rewards and Resources earned to level up your total Ki (thereby allowing you to complete current content faster, reach higher difficulties sooner, and earn better gear and more resources)

What is Ki

Ki is the equivalent of the ‘level’ of a gear (and of your current character). It represents total power and survivability. Each gear has its own Ki level, which influences the character Ki level

Total Ki is the average of the gear you have equipped. You can read more about Total Ki HERE

What is a Property?

A property is the ‘stats’ on a gear in the middle section. It will be a percentage based modifier on the gear. It provides a boost to abilities (example would be Spirit Gain % = gain a % more Spirit per action vs without this ability). These also have ‘letter’ modifiers now (from D- -> S) based on how ‘good’ the value is vs maximum possible.

A big note on Legendary gear = these gear will have HIGHER percentage values vs other gear at an equal Letter rating. Example: Legendary Charm vs Epic Charm, both rolling an ‘S’ Grade rating for Ultimate Damage %. The Legendary Charm will be 25% s the Epic Charm will be 21%. This is applicable for BOTH property slots (slot 1 and slot 2)

What is a Perk?

A Perk is a unique ability tied to a gear that modifies the overall usage of the gear, it can be a %-based stat but often offers an alternative application of the gear (ie Concussion Bomb now includes Scorch Bombs)

What is a Legendary Ability?

A unique ability on found present on Legendary gear. This ability will require a particular scenario or usage to be gained, offering a powerful boost to the gear not found anywhere else

How to Invest in Properties

Properties are given a letter grade in Yotei Legends along with their Numeral indicator. These grades state the average power of your gear S being the best and D- being the worst. Again a change in Yotei Legends vs what we are familiar with in Tsushima Legends is that you can reroll both properties and perks on all gear as long as you have the resources for it. The only way to increase your gear’s property is to select the Begin Upgrade button on a piece of Epic or higher piece of gear. This costs 200 Soul Crystals and will start a challenge on the gear you selected. To actually claim the upgrade you must earn 3,600 EXP from missions. Your chosen piece of gear will then upgrade both properties up one step closer to S. i.e. D- -> D, C -> C+. A+ -> S. So while you are out hunting for your best piece of gear keep an eye out for pieces of gear that have at least B or B+ or higher in both properties as you will spend the least amount of time and resources compared to getting one A+ and one D-. Upgrading letter grades DOES NOT lock you into those attributes.
